Medical Coder

About the Role

We are seeking a Medical Coder responsible for accurate and complete reporting of healthcare data in compliance with regulatory standards and coding conventions.

Responsibilities

• Perform charge entry while ensuring data validity and adherence to policies
• Report quality data to insurance companies and organizations
• Collaborate with staff, physicians, and billing teams on billing, documentation, and coding issues
• Assist with claim denials, appeals, and billing inquiries from patients
• Maintain accounts receivable and conduct medical record audits
• Produce reports on provider feedback and coding performance
• Uphold documentation standards, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance
• Other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• At least 3 years of billing/coding experience preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, and computer skills, especially with billing software and spreadsheets
• Excellent communication skills and customer service experience
• Knowledge of medical revenue cycle
• Coachable, confident, reliable, and team-oriented
• High school diploma or equivalent; certification through AHIMA or AAPC preferred or obtainable within 1 year

Qualifications

Physical and mental requirements: Ability to perform various office activities, work under stress, and lift up to 20 pounds in a typical office setting.
