About the Opportunity

The Medical Coder ensures medical coding and documentation meet established quality and accuracy standards to support timely claims processing. This role applies a payer-focused approach to coding across various specialties and services, contributing to accurate reimbursement, quality data, and effective healthcare outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and accurately code claim information within established turnaround times.
• Provide clear written explanations to support data quality and timely claim reviews.
• Complete assigned work consistently while meeting or exceeding department productivity and quality benchmarks.
• Maintain professional coding knowledge and support departmental efficiency, accuracy, and integrity.
• Manage and prioritize durable medical equipment claims to support timely adjudication and accurate documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Coder credential such as CPC, COC, or CCS through AAPC, AHIMA, or an equivalent recognized certification.
• Minimum 6 months of professional experience with professional fee billing, medical coding, and reimbursement.
• Minimum 6 months of experience or knowledge in medical terminology.
• Ability to maintain a quiet, secure, and confidential home workspace for handling protected health information.
• Access to an approved high-speed internet connection.
• Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals and teams across different organizational levels.
• Durable medical equipment coding experience preferred.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred.
