Responsibilities
- Works closely with the Revenue Cycle Manager to monitor and maintain accounts receivable at all levels defined in the policy.
- Performs charge entry with consideration of all healthcare data elements, ensuring validity of coding and charge additions or deletions, per CPH policies and procedures.
- Reports accurate quality data to insurance companies and applicable organizations.
- Interacts with CPH staff, including physicians and support staff, coders and billing staff regarding any billing and documentation policies, procedures and conflicting/ambiguous or non-specific documentation of concern.
- Affords assistance to CPH team members with claim issues that include denials and appeals.
- Facilitates billing inquiries from patients.
- Maintains insurance and patient accounts receivable.
- Facilitates claim issues that include denials and appeals.
- Performs random medical record audits and reviews for provider cross checks.
- Produces reports related to Provider feedback.
- Produces reports related to coding performance for the Revenue Cycle Manager.
- Upholds medical documentation requirements for billing and coding guidelines.
- Maintains coding certification requirements.
- Maintains strict confidentiality, adheres to HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
Requirements
- Three years of experience in a medical office is preferred.
- Certified Coder through AHIMA or AAPC or obtain certification within 1 year.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills with emphasis placed on billing software and spreadsheets.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience in a customer service role.
- Experience in working collaboratively with teams.
- Basic understanding of a medical practice revenue cycle.
- Coachable, confident, persistent, and reliable.
