About the role
Brandywine Urology Consultants is seeking a Medical Billing Auditor to assist in the billing and coding operations of the department. This position will review and audit physician and Advanced Practice Provider (APP) coding, provide feedback on deficiencies, and maintain credentialing files.
Responsibilities
- Maintain all credentialling files for physicians and APPs including medical staff files and health insurance payor files.
- Audit and provide feedback on quarterly basis to physicians and APPs on deficiencies in charting, documentation, and charge capture.
- Input all charges related to professional services into the practice management system.
- Post all payments, including co-payments, insurance payments, and patient payments, into the practice management system.
- File all charge, payment, and adjustment batches in the appropriate format.
- Provide customer service to patients and authorized representatives regarding patient accounts.
- Verify and update demographic and insurance information in patient registration.
- Follow up on returned claims, denials, and account reconciliations within five working days.
- Submit insurance claims electronically and process refunds to insurance companies and patients.
- Ensure accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of the medical practice management system.
- Adhere to all practice policies related to OSHA, HIPAA, and Medicare Compliance.
Requirements
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience preferably in a surgical subspeciality private practice setting. Knowledge of medical terminology and general office procedures is helpful, along with experience with medical practice management systems and proficiency with computers.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. They should also be able to handle patients efficiently and professionally, and have a helpful understanding of medical processes, procedures, lab, and radiology tests, as well as medications.
Skills
Proficiency with medical practice management systems, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential. The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize accordingly is also important.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $20 - $24.00 per hour.
