About the Role

This position involves performing semi-skilled and skilled cleaning, housekeeping, and general maintenance duties across the UCDH campus. Responsibilities include waste handling for regular, regulated medical waste (RMW), and linen waste, as well as other assigned tasks. The role ensures compliance with departmental safety policies for equipment use. It is physically demanding, requiring significant lifting, stretching, walking, and bending.

Responsibilities

  • 75% General Cleaning
  • 20% Waste Handling (regular, regulated medical waste, and linen waste)
  • 5% Floorcare Maintenance

Requirements

  • Customer service experience
  • Skills to organize and prioritize workload effectively
  • Verbal and written communication skills to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and skills to operate power machines such as floor care equipment and trash compactors
  • Skills to use mobile devices, Vocera, and other communication devices
  • Proficiency with computers, email, and necessary UC programs
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently within a diverse team and fast-paced environment

Department Overview

The Environmental Services (EVS) Department is responsible for all housekeeping functions and services in UCDH-owned and leased facilities.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $26.82 - $33.35

Schedule

  • Shift options: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM or 5:00 PM - 1:30 AM
  • 100% time commitment (full-time)
  • May require variable shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and floating to other units/areas/buildings/runs

This position is subject to a Functional Capacity Assessment for new hires, a Criminal Background Investigation, and a Physical Evaluation.
