Medical Billing Clerk

About the role

Responsible for accurate billing and coding of ambulance, wheelchair, or stretcher transport accounts. Includes claim submission, insurance follow-up, denial management, deductible handling, and patient communication.

Responsibilities

• Code claims using ICD10, HCPCS, and modifiers based on patient care reports
• Submit and follow up on insurance claims
• Manage unpaid claims and denials
• Coordinate self-pay arrangements
• Ensure timely filing and compliance with policies and regulations
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and customer service standards
• Collaborate with team members
• Complete ongoing training

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Experience with medical coding (certification preferred)
• Ability to perform job responsibilities effectively

Physical Requirements

• Ability to reach, push, and pull
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods
• Ability to use a computer for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
