About the Role
This position focuses on the timely resolution and collection of assigned account balances using Patient Accounting software (EPIC). Responsibilities include managing claim submissions, verifying claim acceptance, and handling daily payment activity reports. The role involves identifying recurring issues that impact reimbursement and interacting with internal and external parties to resolve a diverse range of claim lifecycle problems.
Responsibilities
- Timely resolution and collection of assigned account balances utilizing Patient Accounting software (EPIC).
- Timely submission and transmission of claims, including verification of claim acceptance.
- Completion of daily payment activity reports for assigned account balances.
- Identification and recognition of recurring problems or issues that delay or impact reimbursement.
- Effective interaction with management, peers, internal parties, and external parties to resolve claim lifecycle problems.
- Performance of general accounting transactions via completion of adjustment forms, charge correction forms, and payment transfer forms.
- Updating and maintaining denial reports and flags in accordance with departmental requirements.
- Recording complete and meaningful account documentation.
- Reviewing and processing correspondence requests for assigned account balances.
- Changing the financial class to patient liability after ensuring all insurance has been processed and paid appropriately.
Requirements
- At least 2-3+ years of medical billing and accounts receivable (A/R) experience.
- Outpatient A/R/billing experience is preferred.
- Experience with all payers; Aetna or UHC experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of claim submission and denials process.
- Knowledge of commercial payers.
- Experience with EPIC for billing is preferred but not required.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00 per hour. Individual compensation within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
