About the role
The Biller plays a critical role in managing the financial transactions and billing processes within an organization, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in invoicing clients or patients. This position is responsible for preparing and sending bills, verifying billing data, and resolving any discrepancies to maintain smooth revenue flow. The Biller collaborates closely with other departments such as accounting, customer service, and management to ensure that billing information is accurate and up to date. By maintaining detailed records and following up on outstanding payments, the Biller helps optimize cash flow and supports the financial health of the organization. Ultimately, this role contributes to customer satisfaction by providing clear and accurate billing information and addressing billing inquiries promptly and professionally.
Responsibilities
- Knowledgeable of and adheres to all applicable AMS policies, procedures, and patient protocols.
- Compliant with government regulations and professional standards.
- Counsels and interacts with patients, referral sources, and other health care team members.
- Answers telephone according to AMS policy.
- Updates monthly prior authorizations.
- Compiles monthly trending reports for goal setting and provides follow through with old claims in a timely manner to receive payment.
- Verifies Medicaid assessment on a monthly basis.
- Learns all billing responsibilities and is competent to step in for other biller's and customer service representatives responsibilities.
- Timely receipt of benefits assigned to AMS and works with insurance companies and other funding entities to ensure prompt payment.
- Post receivables and print monthly reports for the administrator.
- Input CMN’s as received and do billing thereafter.
- Review insurance updates, vendor fee schedules, etc. and updates in computer and files accordingly.
- Presents insurance updates to intake coordinator(s) and customer service representatives.
- Reviews patient balances and follows through with billing process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Problem-solving skills help the Biller address challenges such as delayed payments or coding errors, contributing to smoother financial operations.
