Job Summary

The Medical Assistant will support the delivery of patient care under the supervision of the acting physician. Duties include taking vital signs, assisting with interviews and care processes, treatments, and patient transport. They will also handle administrative tasks like answering phones, obtaining insurance authorizations, and entering information into the EMR.

Duties

  • Screen patients while performing and recording vital signs
  • Perform data entry through Electronic Medical Record system
  • Maintain medical records and patient confidentiality
  • Disinfect and clean room after each patient
  • Explains treatment to patients as needed
  • Change sutures and dressings as needed
  • Affords assistance to the physician during exams
  • Answers phone calls in a friendly manner and acts as operator for the Hospital
  • Greets and interacts with patients in a friendly and polite manner
  • Performs other administrative duties as needed such as registering patients and scheduling appointments
  • Maintains ability to multitask and move between responsibilities in a fluid manner
  • Maintains adherence to Jcaho hospital standards and Stat policies
  • Monitors supplies and inventory as needed

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degrees strongly preferred in the areas related to Healthcare and Biology
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or CNA desired
  • Must be able to achieve CPR certification within 90 days of employment
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and patient care
  • Must be able to provide excellent customer service to show superior patient care
  • Must demonstrate enthusiasm and drive
  • Must exude respect and flexibility to impact the workplace in a positive manner
  • Must be able to work compassionately with patients and coworkers to exhibit patient care second to none
  • Must demonstrate excellent skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care, in order to meet documentation standards
  • Must be willing to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional advancement
  • Must be aware of standards and perform in accordance with them
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have strong attention to detail
