About the role

The Medical Assistant (MA) is assigned duties and responsibilities related to Walk-In patient care in a team-based environment. The MA will assist providers in the care and treatment of patients, including rooming and gathering information from the patients, assisting providers with minor procedures, contacting patient with test results, administrative support such as answering phones, making appointments, while promoting a smooth flow of patients through the office and helping to create a calm, supportive atmosphere. The MA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care within their scope of practice and according to organizational policies, accrediting and licensing bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and gather information from them
  • Assist providers with minor procedures
  • Contact patients with test results
  • Provide administrative support including answering phones and making appointments
  • Promote smooth flow of patients through the office
  • Help create a calm, supportive atmosphere
  • Demonstrate competency in all skills related to patient care within scope of practice and according to organizational policies, accrediting and licensing bodies

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Must meet one of the following:
    • Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed
    • Completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting
    • 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis)
  • Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. (Fully remote care team members are exempt from BLS certification requirement.)
  • A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire
  • Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, NCCT, or NREMT certification preferred
  • Relevant experience as a Medical Assistant preferred

Schedule

This is a per diem – as needed position.
