Medical Assistant - Walk In Care, Belfast
For a limited time MaineHealth is offering sign-on bonuses for Medical Assistants:
- 0-1 years of experience eligible for $4,000 (full time)
- 1+ years of experience eligible for $5,000 (full time)
Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time MA position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.
About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Primary Care/Walk-In Clinic in Belfast. The Medical Assistant supports providers and clinical staff by assisting with patient care, performing clinical and administrative tasks, and ensuring smooth daily operations within the practice.
Responsibilities
- Greet and prepare patients for exams, record vital signs, and review medical history.
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Administer medications and immunizations as directed.
- Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
- Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Support front office tasks including scheduling, referrals, and patient communication.
- Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment to ensure a safe environment.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide excellent patient-centered care.
Requirements
Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following requirements:
- Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or
- Completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or
- 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis).
License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, NCCT, or NREMT certification preferred. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. Fully remote care team members are exempt from BLS certification requirement. A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire.
Experience: Relevant experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $21.09 to $27.12 per hour. Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
