Medical Assistant - Same Day Surgery - Per Diem Day

Responsibilities
- Making and recording vital signs.
- Recording patient interviews, histories, and chief complaints.
- Providing patient education regarding office policies, medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets.
- Aiding physicians during exams and minor surgeries.
- Preparing patients for examinations and conducting routine screening tests.
- Changing dressings, applying bandages, removing sutures, and performing other first aid procedures.
- Using CPR skills when necessary.
- Maintaining supplies, equipment, stocking, and sterilizing instruments.
- Adhering to OSHA safety standards.
- Accurately documenting patient interactions and procedures.
- Triage patient phone calls and review prescriptions as directed by the physician.
- Performing other supportive duties as assigned.
- Performing phlebotomy.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
- Adhering to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 5 lbs., and standing a minimum of 1 hour a day.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with varying populations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of computerized processes and data entry procedures.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred
- Minimum 2-3 years experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
Licenses and Certifications Required
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician.
Compensation
The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. - Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
- Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
- Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.
