Henry Ford Internal Medicine Resident Clinic - Macomb offers comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals of all ages, addressing both medical and behavioral health needs with an emphasis on prevention, health maintenance, and advocacy across the healthcare system.

About the role

Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and escorting patients to the exam room.
  • Obtaining medical histories.
  • Measurement and recording of vital signs.
  • Preparing patients for an examination/procedure.
  • Assisting the provider during the examination/procedure.
  • Performing phlebotomy (recent practical experience required).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum). OR
  • Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years. OR
  • Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting. OR
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). OR
  • Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years. OR
  • Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
  • Current BLS-C certification upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.
  • Recent practical phlebotomy experience.

Qualifications

  • Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred.
  • Ability to problem-solve preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred.
  • EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred.
  • Recent primary care experience, active/current phlebotomy experience, and adult vaccine knowledge a plus.

Schedule

  • Full Time, 40 hours per week.
  • Rotating shifts: 7:15 AM – 3:45 PM, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM.

Pay

$2,000 sign-on bonus.
