About the Role

Supports the licensed healthcare team in performing office examinations and procedures by organizing and managing clinic patient flow, gathering and documenting patient screening data, assisting with patient and family education, and communicating with the patient's healthcare team.

Schedule

Clinic Hours:

  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00 am - 7:00 pm
  • Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
  • Saturday: 9:00 am - 12:30 pm

Responsibilities

  • Directs and supports patient flow as well as unit operations by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards.
  • Facilitates identification of resources to meet patient healthcare needs.
  • Performs/assists with procedures according to organizational/departmental standards.
  • Collects and documents patient screening data for the healthcare team.
  • Assists with patient and family education.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant from one of the following organizations (or ability to obtain within 120 days in accordance with state guidelines):
    • AMT (American Medical Technologists)
    • AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants)
    • NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing)
    • NHA (National Health Career Association)
    • NAHP (National Association for Health Professionals)
  • Candidates may sit for the certification exam if they have 12 months of patient care experience.
  • Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
  • Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.

Skills

  • Clinical Patient Documentation: Fundamental awareness; limited experience or training working with clinical applications for patient documentation.
  • Clinical Competencies: Novice level; demonstrates sufficient fundamental proficiency to assist and perform clinical care including vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, medication administration, and point-of-care testing as directed by unit standards.
  • Environment of Care: Novice level; demonstrates sufficient fundamental proficiency with setup and maintenance of patient exam rooms, supplies, and equipment.
  • Planning & Organizing: Fundamental awareness; demonstrates ability to anticipate basic resource needs, identify discrete tasks, set priorities, define dependencies, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work for own assignments.
