About the Role

As a Medical Assistant at Oak Street Health, you will gather all necessary medical information regarding our patients to ensure providers have the most accurate information available when making healthcare decisions. You will be a vital element of our model and an important member of our Care Teams, requiring high levels of flexibility, energy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. You will build relationships with Oak Street Health members and collaborate closely with your teammates to ensure an unmatched patient experience while driving clinical results.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure an efficient patient flow; room patients in a timely manner, complete vital signs, required screenings, and medication reviews.
  • Inventory supplies and stock exam rooms.
  • Respond to patient requests for telephonic support (e.g., lab results, faxing records to specialists).
  • Administer vaccinations, perform point-of-care tests (e.g., A1C, spirometry, EKGs, blood draws for lab testing) in accordance with state regulations.
  • Import required documents into EMR via scanning or PDF upload.
  • Participate in care team meetings to discuss patient care and clinic operations.
  • Process orders for durable medical equipment.
  • Request medical records from external providers as required by the provider.
  • Conduct routine quality control checks, including infection control measures, equipment, and checks for expired medication and supplies.
  • Assist in maintaining center lab and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • State or national certification (as required by state) or graduation from an accredited medical assistant course.
  • 1 year of experience as a medical assistant.
  • CPR or BLS Certification.
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
  • Computer skills: Ability to quickly navigate and use multiple computer programs (e.g., Gmail, MS Word/Google Docs, Excel/Google Sheets).
  • Proficiency in non-English languages as required by the center's demographics.
  • US work authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years in a Medical Assistant role.
  • Successful mastery of workflow in a previous MA position.
  • An appetite for expanded responsibilities, greater clinical experience, and making an impact in patients’ lives.
  • 2 or more years of experience working with geriatric patients.
  • Phlebotomy Technician Certification.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Pay

The typical pay range for this role is $18.50 - $35.29 per hour. This range represents the base hourly rate and may vary based on experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay.
