About the role

Patriot Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in Eldersburg, MD. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional support to providers and team members to ensure a seamless flow between examination and treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a high quality and consistent approach to patient care
  • Be the liaison between patients and medical providers
  • Provide exceptional support to providers and team members
  • Escort or transport a patient by wheelchair when appropriate
  • Administer medications, dress/bandage wounds, draw blood, and assist provider with any procedures in/out of exam room
  • Perform diagnostic tests including eye exams, electrocardiograph, audiogram, peak flow, and other basic nursing functions
  • Complete medical charting to include medical services rendered, test results, and supplies used
  • Monitor disposable inventory, medical supplies, and pharmaceuticals
  • Perform both DOT and Non-DOT urine drug screens, using proper chain of custody; ensure preparation for pick-up and shipment to appropriate laboratory
  • Complete all necessary documentation and ensure patient confidentiality

Requirements

  • Must be detail oriented, have strong interpersonal skills, be competent in medical best practices, and maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to escort or transport a patient by wheelchair when appropriate
  • BLS/CPR certification required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of clinical experience preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification preferred

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant (Certified, Certified Clinical, Registered, or a certificate of completion from your school is preferred, but not required)
  • Nurse (LPN) must provide proof of current certification
  • Ability to escort or transport a patient by wheelchair when appropriate
  • BLS/CPR certification required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of clinical experience preferred

Skills

  • Strong customer service and problem-solving / communication skills
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of EMR system
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills
  • Perform clinical intake including obtaining patient’s medical history, current medications, chief complaint, obtain vital signs and records information within EMR system
  • Administer medications, dress/bandage wounds, draw blood and assist provider with any procedures in/out of exam room
  • Perform diagnostic tests including eye exams, electrocardiograph, audiogram, peak flow, and other basic nursing functions

Pay

  • Hourly Salary Range: Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA): $17.00 - $24.00

Schedule

  • Must be able to work three 12-hour shifts per week with a rotation on weekends and some holidays
  • MA / LPN positions may require travel to multiple clinic centers across the defined region to support critical shifts
  • Access to reliable transportation is required
  • Mileage is paid for travel that occurs outside of your defined home region
