Job Responsibilities
- Affords support to various healthcare disciplines in delivering both direct and indirect patient care activities.
- Supports initiatives aimed at ensuring safe patient care and fostering a secure environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
- Performs assigned tasks under supervision of licensed professionals such as physicians, advanced practice registered nurses, physician assistants, registered nurses, or licensed practical nurses.
Qualifications
- No minimum experience required.
- One year of experience in pediatrics, including tasks like obtaining vitals, assisting clinical staff, phlebotomy, and specimen collection procedures preferred.
- Completion of a medical assistant training program from an accredited school, emergency medical technician certification, hospital-based training as a patient care technician, or equivalent education.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment.
- Completion of initial competencies within three months of hire.
- Reflects a professional image and exhibits excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrates competency in phlebotomy skills, ensuring proper and safe collection of laboratory specimens.
- Demonstrates competency during intake processes, accurately recording vital signs.
- Provides continuous visual monitoring of behavioral and at-risk patients, maintaining a safe environment through 1:1 uninterrupted monitoring and reporting potentially unsafe behaviors.
- Utilizes proficient organization and communication skills to prioritize, deliver, and document patient care effectively.
- Operates efficiently in a frequently stressful and fast-paced environment, maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Serves as a liaison between patients/families and department staff, handling greetings, message relaying, and offering assistance.
- Participates in administrative duties, including office opening/closing procedures, answering phones, maintaining waiting room/patient diversion materials, restocking complimentary beverages, and updating wait-time boards.
- Understands and complies with infection control, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration procedures and regulations.
- Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including neonatal (N), infant (I), early childhood (EC), late childhood (LC), adolescent (AD), adult (A), and all ages (ALL).
Pay
Full time 1.0 FTE.
Schedule
Monday-Friday, Shift Start Time: 7:30 AM, Shift End Time: 4:30 PM.
