About the role
The Medical Assistant assists physicians in assessing, examining, and treating patients. Responsibilities include managing patient flow, performing diagnostic procedures like EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and vitals, acting as a liaison to ensure patient satisfaction, maintaining and ordering supplies, interacting with co-workers, visitors, and other staff, and assisting with examinations and diagnostic procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assists physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures.
- Performs and documents vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
- Remains proficient and knowledgeable regarding the use and documentation requirements within information technology systems.
- Orders clinical supplies to maintain inventory and support office operations.
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff.
- Ensures proper identification of patients during transport to exam rooms.
- Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program.
- For internal Einstein applicants only: Medical Assistant certification is not required if a current Einstein employee in a current Medical Assistant role with a hire date prior to 7/1/2024 when transferring within Einstein entities.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Familiarity with medical office procedures.
Skills
- Proficiency in using information technology systems.
- Ability to perform diagnostic procedures under supervision.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
