Medical Assistant- Otolaryngology - Navy Yard

About the role

The Medical Assistant assists physicians in assessing, examining, and treating patients. Responsibilities include managing patient flow, performing diagnostic procedures like EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and vitals, acting as a liaison to ensure patient satisfaction, maintaining and ordering supplies, interacting with co-workers, visitors, and other staff, and assisting with examinations and diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Performs and documents vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
• Remains proficient and knowledgeable regarding the use and documentation requirements within information technology systems.
• Orders clinical supplies to maintain inventory and support office operations.
• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff.
• Ensures proper identification of patients during transport to exam rooms.
• Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program.
• For internal Einstein applicants only: Medical Assistant certification is not required if a current Einstein employee in a current Medical Assistant role with a hire date prior to 7/1/2024 when transferring within Einstein entities.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with medical office procedures.

Skills

• Proficiency in using information technology systems.
• Ability to perform diagnostic procedures under supervision.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
