Medical Assistant - Oncology - Per Diem 1 - Days

Hourly Pay Range: $19.89 - $28.84 – The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

About the role

This is a per diem position at the Endeavor Niles Infusion Center in Niles, IL. The commitment level is Per Diem Level 1, requiring 32-72 hours per 6-week schedule. Hours are primarily Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:30pm, with occasional Saturday-Sunday shifts from 8am - 12pm as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; graduate of an accredited medical assistant training program preferred.
• Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accrediting body preferred.
• Current CPR certification with the American Heart Association required.
• Prior experience or hospital experience preferred.
• Must be able to perform clinical skills based on office specialty, including vital signs and other relevant skills.
• Proficiency in typing, computer entry, patient registration, charge entry, and filing.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexibility with work schedule or hours to meet clinic needs, including shift rotations.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients, provides a high level of customer service, and answers telephone referrals/inquiries.
• Prepares patients for healthcare visits by directing and/or accompanying them to examining rooms; provides exam gowns and drapes; assists with positioning for examinations or treatments; arranges exam room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Verifies patient information by interviewing patients; reviews and/or records medical history; takes vital signs; confirms purpose of visit or treatment.
• Supports patient care delivery by assisting healthcare providers during examinations; prepares laboratory specimens; performs basic laboratory tests; disposes of contaminated supplies; sterilizes medical instruments.
• Administers medications on the premises; authorizes drug refills as directed; telephones prescriptions to pharmacies; draws blood; prepares patients for x-rays; takes electrocardiograms; removes sutures; changes dressings.
• Prepares for and assists with procedures as directed, including specialty-specific clinical duties.
• Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions; answers questions.
• Completes records by documenting patient examination, treatment, and test results.
• Generates revenues by recording billing information of services rendered; completes insurance forms; responds to insurance and third-party inquiries.
• Manages supplies by inventorying stock; places orders; verifies receipt.
• Maintains equipment by following operating instructions; troubleshoots breakdowns; performs preventive maintenance; calls for repairs as needed.
• Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complies with legal regulations.
• Ensures patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping patient care information secure.
