Medical Assistant - Oncology
About the role
Position responsible for assisting providers and the nursing team in the delivery of professional medical care. Incumbent must have excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor at all times. May be responsible for covering front office job duties as needed.
No experience as a Medical Assistant or not been through an MA Program? We provide training and support to help you succeed through our 10-week paid Medical Assistant Training Cohort Program. The program offers a comprehensive review of body systems including pharmacology, medical terminology, lab values, and BLS certification, along with an introduction to Saint Luke’s culture with an emphasis on customer service and patient safety.
Next session starts on October 19.
Responsibilities
- Pre-visit planning
- Rooming patients and obtaining vitals
- Utilizing the EMR system
- Scanning and downloading documents
- Administering injections and vaccine coordination
- Telephone screening (with protocols)
- Phlebotomy
- Assist with procedures as needed
- Duties as assigned based on clinic need
Requirements
- Less than 1 year of applicable experience
- Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- Medical Assistant (Certified) certification (various accepted)
Schedule
Part-time day shift.
Medical Assistant Training Program schedule:
- Week 1-5: In-class didactic content
- Week 5-8: Clinicals with instructor
- Week 9-10: Home clinic orientation with Success Coach
