About the Role
This position ensures the physician's schedule flows efficiently by preparing for patient visits, assisting the physician during exams, and maintaining exam rooms and supplies.
Responsibilities
- Greet and escort patients into the exam area in a timely manner.
- Update patient demographics and medical history in the EMR system.
- Obtain vital signs and record the chief complaint to start notes for the physician.
- Check the schedule and organize patient flow.
- Assist with collecting and labeling specimens for laboratory testing.
- Enter lab orders as directed by the physician.
- Ensure encounter forms are completed before directing the patient to the discharge area.
- Keep exam rooms clean, neat, and fully supplied.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain open communication between nurses and the physician.
Requirements
- Full-time, non-exempt position.
- Knowledge of HIPAA/OSHA compliance.
- Familiarity with OB/GYN and medical terminology and procedures.
- Understanding of nursing theory, regulations, and practices.
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a physician office setting, preferably in an OB/GYN office or Family Practice.
- Current medical assistant certification preferred.
- Maintain CPR certification.

- Strong communication skills, including tact, diplomacy, sensitivity, clarity, and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain a positive working relationship with physicians and co-workers.

- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with physicians, team members, and patients.
- Ability to follow policies and procedures as directed.

- Visual and manual dexterity for data entry on the computer.
- Ability to tolerate prolonged sitting or standing.
