Medical Assistant OBGYN

This position is located at Intermountain Health McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.

About the role

As a Medical Assistant at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care. You will provide care to patients with acute and chronic needs in an ambulatory clinic setting, working in both the call center and lab areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direction of the clinician by assisting the provider to gather information relative to the patient’s visit and condition.
• Communicate clearly with patients seeking care through telephone and in-person interactions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver patient care, ensuring attention to detail and follow-through.

Requirements

• Proof of completion of a Medical Assistant program or at least one year of Medical Assistant work experience or current active and in good standing RN/LPN license to practice nursing in the state of Utah.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers (must be obtained prior to start date).
• Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry.
• Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver high customer/patient satisfaction.
• Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI) of patients, members, and caregivers.
• Utah Only: If certified with less than one year of MA experience, caregivers may attend a yearlong MA residency program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
• Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
• Current national MA certification from one of the following: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interactions requiring clear verbal communication, hearing, and understanding of spoken information, alarms, and patient needs, especially during emergencies.
• Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation and medication preparation.
• Ability to lift, bend, retrieve, and carry supplies and equipment, including heavy items.
• Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
• Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms with equipment and power cords.
• May be expected to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
• For roles requiring driving: Ability to drive a vehicle, including sitting, seeing, and reading signs and traffic signals.

Schedule

• 36 hours per week, full-time.
• Clinic hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM.
• Schedule: 4 days per week, Monday–Friday, with no set day off.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $20.07 - $28.59, dependent upon experience.
