What We Are Looking For

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Medical Assistant who has or is interested in obtaining their Non-Certified Technician certification. The ideal candidate should enjoy a fast-paced setting and thrive in a team environment, prioritizing both patients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Performs radiology duties within the scope of practice as stated in NextCare Policies and Procedures, as well as state-appropriate Radiation Rules and Regulations.
• Assists providers with exams (including patient vitals), procedures, and other patient care tasks under direct supervision of the provider and within the scope of practice of a Medical Assistant.
• Administers all forms of medications per policy and provider direction, adhering to safety protocols and procedures for medication administration.
• May be responsible for urine collection for various tests, including employer drug screens.
• Conducts splinting and casting.
• Performs various types of physicals, such as sports physicals.
• Performs wound care and oxygen administration.
• Notifies the provider on duty promptly of all unusual patient occurrences, including medication events, on an incident report.
• Promptly notifies the Clinic Manager of patient or employee safety concerns.
• Fulfills other related duties specific to urgent care, such as conducting physicals and administering medications.

The Radiology Technologist at NextCare supports the organization by providing excellent customer service and treating all patients with respect and dignity. They play a crucial role in the back office urgent care setting, meeting the specific needs of each patient.

Essential Education, Experience & Skills

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
• Completed an APPROVED (accredited) Medical Assistant training program, or completed an UNAPPROVED (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program and obtained a National Certification through one of the following:
• American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) - Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and certification;
• American Medical Technologists (AMT) - Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam and certification;
• National Healthcareer Association (NHA) - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam and certification.
• OR Completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program and worked as a medical assistant for one (1) year or more after program completion.
• OR Must have VERIFIABLE work experience directly supervised by Provider or Physician Group for a minimum of 2000 hours or 1 year.
• Other MA education or experience may be considered upon review and approval from Compliance and Regulatory department.
• Licensure for NCT: Active and current NCT license issued by the Texas Medical Board.
• Certification: Current healthcare professional level CPR certification issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, American Safety Health Institute, or National Safety Benefits.
