The Medical Assistant (MA) - Multi-Specialty position offers an opportunity to expand your knowledge and skill set in a Multi-Specialty Clinic environment. Under the direction of licensed medical and/or nursing personnel, you will play a central role in delivering healthcare to patients, collaborating with professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care and desired outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the patient’s care team, including primary care providers, specialists, home care, and hospital teams, to optimize clinical outcomes.
  • Work as a team member to communicate and coordinate patient care and workflow effectively with staff, patients, and providers.
  • Improve the patient experience through pre-visit planning, including reviewing notes from previous visits and ensuring documentation of results (e.g., lab results, diagnostic tests, pathology reports).
  • Enhance patient interactions by practicing AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) during each patient encounter.
  • Room patients following standardized workflows, including verifying patient information, documenting chief complaints, vital signs, BMI, pulse oximetry, medication lists, allergies, and other required information.
  • Perform clinical duties as competency-validated, such as EKG, spirometry, point-of-care testing, specimen collection, staple and suture removal, wound care, toenail cutting, and equipment cleaning/reprocessing.
  • Administer medications and immunizations, set up exam or procedure rooms, prepare patients for examinations/treatments, and assist providers as needed.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas; stock exam rooms; and perform quality control checks on equipment.
  • Dismiss patients at the end of visits, including completing orders, delivering patient education, scheduling follow-ups, and reviewing the patient plan.
  • Manage in-basket tasks, address MyChart messages, assist with pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling for clinic, hospital, and ancillary medical treatments.
  • Respect patient confidentiality and treat patients with courtesy and respect.
  • Collaborate and communicate professionally with all care team members regarding processes and clinical issues.
  • Develop and maintain positive internal relationships with co-workers, managers, clinical support staff, providers, and business office staff.
  • Participate in daily patient care huddles and continuous quality improvement projects.
  • Attend staff meetings and educational offerings, both in-person and online, as required.
  • Support organizational initiatives to promote a strong, positive workplace culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant Diploma and/or National Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program or equivalent military healthcare experience.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant externship.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of activities associated with delivering quality Medical Assistant duties.
  • High level of skill in building relationships and providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to use computers for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Certifications/Licensure

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained through an approved American Heart Association or Red Cross program (must maintain active certification).

Preferred Experience

  • One (1) year of Medical Assistant experience, preferably in an ambulatory clinic setting with specialty services.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
