MEDICAL ASSISTANT - MH Telepresenter - California Men's Colony (CMC)

Job Summary

This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent. This classification is subject to Section 5, Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) Authorization of the California State Civil Service Pay Scales.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid certificate from an agency approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Medical Board of California to practice as a Medical Assistant.
• Active certification status required prior to appointment into the classification.

Responsibilities

Under the administrative supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), and the clinical supervision of the Staff Psychiatrist, Correctional and Rehabilitative Services (Safety), the Medical Assistant (MA) provides support to the Psychiatrists in a variety of health care settings. The MA:

• Performs patient oriented procedures.
• Provides support to the mental health care team for daily operations.
• Communicates effectively with patients, Psychiatrists, and other members of the health care team.
• Performs administrative duties.
• Addresses the ongoing needs of patients.
• Works with the Psychiatrists and other health care providers.
• Promotes the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources.

Benefits

Eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus should you be selected for hire, and remain employed with CCHCS for 90 days. For a CDCR/CCHCS employee to be considered, a questionnaire must be completed to the best of your knowledge, including the referring employee’s name, classification, PERNR, and work location.

Pay

The authorized HAM rate for this classification is $4,556. Please note: Individuals may be eligible to receive a $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend should they meet the eligibility criteria, including but not limited to remaining employed with CCHCS for six months. Additionally, individuals may be eligible to receive a monthly recruitment and retention differential during their first year with CCHCS (totaling $5,000), should they meet the eligibility criteria.
