Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works directly with Mercy Primary Care Providers to provide safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, patient-centered care in a systematic way.
  • Pairs with patients, providers, and other members of the clinical care team to drive quality outcomes for all patients.

Position Details

  • Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Must complete MA Clinic Academy training and all MA Competencies.
  • Additional Minimum Requirement(s): BLS certification required. Only for Hospital Outpatient Departments.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program, one year of applicable patient care experience or medical office experience, BLS certification preferred.
  • Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Completion of Advanced Standard Rooming with overall achievement >= 90% for the last 6 months, proficiency with EHR systems and clinical documentation, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment, knowledge of common outpatient procedures and equipment, commitment to patient-centered care and professional growth, knowledge of varying differences and behaviors among populations served.

Work Environment

  • Outpatient clinical setting with frequent patient interaction.
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and use of clinical equipment.
  • Potential exposure to infectious materials; PPE provided.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
  • Requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
