What We Are Looking For
NextCare Urgent Care is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Medical Assistant who enjoys a fast-paced environment and works well in a team. Candidates should be customer-friendly and passionate about providing excellent care.
Responsibilities
- Assists providers with exams, including taking patient vitals and performing other direct patient care tasks under the supervision of the provider.
- Administers medications according to policy and provider direction, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Performs blood draws and urine collections as directed by the provider, including for employer drug screens.
- Conducts various types of physicals, such as sports physicals.
- Performs splinting and casting as needed.
- Provides wound care and oxygen administration as required.
- Notifies the on-duty provider promptly of any unusual patient occurrences, documenting incidents on an incident report.
- Notifies the Clinic Manager of any patient or employee safety concerns immediately.
- Follows laboratory and clinical accreditation policies.
- Proficient in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)/Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Performs other related duties as assigned or as described by company policy.
- Supports the Front Office Reception as needed, including managing patient wait times, processing discharges, and collecting payments.
Essential Education, Experience & Skills
- Arizona: High school diploma or equivalent; AND completed an approved (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.
- OR: Unapproved (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program AND national certification through one of the following organizations:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) - Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and certification;
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) - Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam and certification;
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA) - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam and certification.
