Medical Assistant - Massena, NY

Responsibilities

• Serves as a point of contact for patients and their families.
• Answers telephones promptly and courteously.
• Schedules appointments and files pertinent information within patient records.
• Obtains insurance prior authorizations and inputs charges on patient accounts.
• Verifies patient insurance upon registration and documents vital signs on patients.
• Billing and acts as a chaperone for the provider when needed.
• Absorbs patient weights and assists with minor procedures such as suture removal.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 6 months of clinical experience as a nursing assistant or related field.
• Ability to file and retrieve patient records.
• Ability to obtain and document patient vitals, weights, etc.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and providers.

Qualifications

• CSEA (MH) Note: Not all per diem roles are union eligible.

Physical Requirements

• M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

Pay

The listed base pay range is $19.08 - $27.99 per hour. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
