Duties And Responsibilities
- Affords assistance to the day-to-day operations of the front and back office.
- Ensures completion of all medical assistant tasks and duties in a timely and efficient manner.
- Coordinates referrals and patient communication.
- Administers injections and assists with non-invasive and direct patient care procedures.
- Assists with medical examinations within the medical assistant scope of practice.
- Collects patient medical history, vital signs, and ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies.
- Participates in and prepares for internal/external audits.
- Maintains inventory of medical supplies, immunization, and operating supplies.
- Ensures calibration, charging, and cleaning of equipment.
- Stocks required medical supplies in exam rooms.
- Registers patients, updates patient information, and data entry of demographics.
- Verifies and activates patient insurance plans as needed.
- Posts encounter data accurately and posts to appropriate funding/insurance plans.
- Completes end of day reconciliation reports and ensures cash security.
- Prepares for next day clinic by identifying appointment types and chart preparation.
- Updates proof of income, pre-registers patients, and screens for program eligibility.
- Provides exceptional customer service internally and externally.
- Greets customers with appropriate introductions and addresses concerns.
- Assists with other departments as needed.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification.
- Experience with EMR/EHR preferred.
- Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.
- Knowledgeable of personal computers.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association.
- Able to perform physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 25 lbs, pushing and pulling up to 45 lbs, bending, twisting, and turning.
