Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant assists with direct patient care and performs specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol. Duties include:
- Assisting medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients
- Rooming patients, measuring and recording vital signs (height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration)
- Completing patient interviews and histories
- Preparing patients for examinations, tests, and treatments while explaining procedures
- Assisting with procedures as ordered by a physician, including examinations, treatments, and special tests
- Setting up equipment and preparing medical treatment rooms for patients
- Collecting samples such as blood, urine, and sputum from patients and performing routine laboratory tests on samples
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least one of the following:
- A diploma from a Medical Assistant Program
- Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience
- Military Medic training
- EMT-P (Paramedic) training
- Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education
Preferences: Medical Assistant Certification. Certified MAs receive additional compensation for obtaining and maintaining this certificate. Not certified? Use our tuition reimbursement program to help cover certification costs.

Pay
USD $18.20 - USD $29.33 per hour.
