About the Role

The Medical Assistant will manage patient flow throughout the clinic and assist providers in the management and treatment of their patients. Patients come from a variety of backgrounds and age groups, requiring individualized care including infants, children, adolescents, adults, or geriatrics. The focus is on collaborative, supportive, and delegated tasks as described in the Blaze Health Medical Assistant scope of practice. Delegable tasks and competencies are specific to the role of the Supervising Nurse and Supervising Provider, as outlined by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.

The Medical Assistant receives direction and collaborates with the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Manager, and Providers to meet the defined goals of the customer, shift, department, and organization. Communication with the healthcare team regarding progress, concerns, questions, or problems is an essential element of the role. A unit-based skills list outlines specific expectations, including technical procedures with competency assessment/validation. Skill and competency validations occur upon hire and on a schedule determined by Blaze Health.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent (i.e., GED) required.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program accredited by a recognized accrediting organization (e.g., Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools) with on-the-job experience and training, OR
  • Graduate of a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) program accredited by a national health services organization (e.g., American Medical Technologists) with on-the-job experience, training, and passing the RMA certification exam, OR
  • Six (6) months of previous Medical Assistant experience within the North Memorial Health system.
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Passed X-Ray Operator’s examination, or willing to take the exam according to individual clinic needs.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Registered Medical Assistant certification required if an RMA program was attended.

Skills

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of and skill in using computer software applications.

Schedule

  • Monday: Golden Valley, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Tuesday: Golden Valley, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Wednesday: Golden Valley, 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Thursday: Brooklyn Park, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Friday: Golden Valley, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Hours per two-week pay period: 80. Shift: Days (8 hours). Weekend requirement: None. Call requirement: None. On-site position.

Pay

Salary Range: B11 ($19.76 - $29.64), based on experience. Eligible for up to a $3,000 sign-on bonus (prorated based on FTE). Compensation may include shift differential pay depending on the position and shift worked.
