About the Role
Provides quality patient care under the supervision of a physician or licensed healthcare provider in a clinical setting.
Responsibilities
- Ensure proper calibration, cleaning, and maintenance of clinical/lab equipment, adhering to OSHA and DHEC standards, with documentation.
- Maintain and review patient records, communicate test results, and develop patient education materials.
- Manage exam room supplies and ensure a clean environment.
- Assist with patient scheduling, screening, and education regarding diagnoses and treatments.
- Observe, record, and report patient conditions, reactions, and responses to medication; triage phone calls; and instruct patients on treatments and medication distribution.
- Prepare patients for exams and procedures, assist during procedures, instruct on sample collection, and administer prescribed treatments and tests.
- Take vital signs and document in electronic medical records.
- Administer injections and assist with minor procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited medical assisting program preferred.
- Certification through recognized agencies such as AMT, AAMA, NHA, NCCT, or equivalent; BLS certification required.
- For LPNs: graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse program, valid state or compact license, and BLS certification.
