Medical Assistant Intern

Responsibilities
- Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
- Maintains flow in waiting areas and exam rooms and informs patients and team members of delays.
- Performs medical assistant duties safely and efficiently.
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment; takes brief patient history; assists physician with procedures; draws blood and obtains urine specimens; administers injections as approved for CMAs; provides patient instructions per physician’s order; conducts authorized in-office tests.
- Reviews chart in advance of patient intake; completes all authorized patient chart documentation accurately, legibly, and timely.
- Prepares examination rooms; accurately and promptly sets up rooms, materials, and equipment; monitors required stock levels and anticipates unique supply needs for patients/providers.
- Maintains general clinical supply inventory and equipment.
- May assist with preloading data into EMR system; performs data entry and medical record management.
- Assists with other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs. and stands a minimum of 1 hour a day.
Qualifications
- Enrollment in and completion of classroom portion at an accredited school of Medical Assisting.
- Passing or eligibility to sit for a National Certified Medical Assistant certificate.
- Current CPR certification.
- MUST have reliable transportation to the assigned practice every day as scheduled.
Compensation
The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. The base compensation determined at the time of the offer may be different than the posted rate of pay based on a number of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to: Labor Market Data: Compensation is benchmarked against market data to ensure competitiveness. Experience: Years of relevant work experience. Education and Certifications: Level of education attained, including specialized certifications, credentials, completed apprenticeship programs or advanced training. Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies. Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location. Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization. Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered. Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
