Responsibilities
- Train to work in various pharmacies at ANMC, including Outpatient, Inpatient, Healthy Communities Building (HCB), Mediset, and Discharge/Transitions of Care.
- Provide patient counseling, drug information, drug therapy consultation, and staff education.
- Review patient profile and clinical status, labs, dosing intervals, and drug therapy combinations to assure safe and effective medication use.
- Consult with healthcare providers on therapy recommendations as appropriate.
- Conduct medication dispensing, compounding, order entry, and verification of all pharmaceutical activities.
- Repackage and distribute prescriptions; perform compounding of IV, topical, and oral medications in an accurate and timely manner.
- Document patient and procedural information.
- Follows proper billing procedures.
- Restock bays and all other work areas with medications.
- Perform inventory checks with inventory pharmacy technicians.
- Answer phone calls and provide backup front desk customer service.
- Contribute to department process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
- ACPE-accredited pharmacy school program OR proof of passing the FPGEE (Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination).
- Possess a current State of Alaska Intern Pharmacist License at start date of hire.

- Knowledge of pharmaceutical equipment and instruments.
- Knowledge of the regulations and practice standards of pharmaceutical care.
- Knowledge of drug names, drug strengths, and dosage forms.
- Knowledge of applicable computer system software programs.
- Knowledge of basic math.
- Skill in using pharmaceutical equipment and instruments.
- Skill in effective oral and written communication.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.
