Location: 6900 Orchard Lake Road, West Bloomfield, MI
Position: Medical Assistant – Full Time

About the Role

The Medical Assistant II (MA II) supports the delivery of urological services, performing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks under the direction of their assigned direct supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and prepare patients.
  • Measure and record vital signs.
  • Record patient interview, history, and chief complaint.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.
  • Absorb and assist with physician exams.
  • Perform phlebotomy and collection of lab specimens.
  • Perform basic lab tests, EKGs, and assist with X-ray and therapy procedures.
  • Administer medications with physician authorization.
  • Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform first aid.
  • Use CPR skills when necessary.
  • Prepare accurate, legal, and ethical documentation.
  • Open office in the morning and close in the afternoon.
  • Assist in maintaining patient logs for lab requests, CT scans, and other treatment orders.
  • Maintain prescription ledger when needed.
  • Ensure the back office has good flow, keeps rooms full, and assists with room turnover.
  • Perform new patient thorough work-up (x-rays, vitals, new patient packet explanation).
  • Add medical history on new patients and update established patients' history.
  • Ensure accurate and complete room setup for physician visits.
  • Ensure appropriate consent forms are completed correctly without excessive medical abbreviations.
  • Scribe as assigned based on physician office flow.
  • Prepare for seeing patients the following day, including confirming next-day visits.
  • Complete patient medical record requests when necessary.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new personnel.
  • Assist with other administrative projects and tasks as needed.
  • Ensure proper handoff of responsibilities once their task is completed.
  • Maintain punctuality and dependability for assigned/confirmed shifts.
  • Respect and acknowledge the organization's commitment to cultural diversity.
  • Consistently demonstrate good use of time and resources.
  • Adhere to HR, & Corporate policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of medical records for all patients.
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
  • Open to new graduates, but an externship must be completed.
  • Comfortable assisting with preparation for urological procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Certification or Registration preferred.
  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR, Practice Management Solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Project Management.
  • Vendor relations (for those MA’s that are required to order office and clinical supplies).
  • Database management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in using computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.

Education Requirements

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience (based on State regulation requirements).

Experience Requirements

  • 6 months experience working within a physician’s office desired.
  • Urology experience desired.
