About the role

The Medical Assistant at Unio Health Partners is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for ensuring smooth patient care delivery. This position requires a cooperative spirit and a commitment to maintaining a professional, comfortable, and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient turnover of patient rooms and maintain timely daily schedule flow.
  • Provide patient care: taking vitals, documenting intake forms, medical history, explaining procedure instructions, and assisting with follow-up care instructions as needed.
  • Maintain instruments and equipment: sterilizing, disinfecting, autoclaving, and following proper cleaning and storage protocols.
  • Submit prior authorizations for ordered medications, procedures, and labs.
  • Auxiliary tasks: updating supply order lists, ensuring supplies are up to date and fully stocked, preventing supply shortages; assisting with patient room and tray setup, specimen collection and transport, phlebotomy, administering injections, and medication preparation (reconstitution).
  • Daily preparation of EMR: retrieving and uploading of labs, diagnostic studies, post-op reports, authorizations, and any documentation necessary for patient upcoming appointments; confirming medication/s or supplies are in stock prior to patient appointments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate required.
  • 0-3 years of healthcare experience preferred, including experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) preferred.

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion is a plus.
  • Phlebotomy Certificate is a plus.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred (languages may vary by location based on patient population).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Schedule

Occasional travel to any of the UNIO locations may be required.
