Job Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the physician and mid-level providers. The Medical Assistant provides instructions to patients as directed by the providers. The Medical Assistant is also responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA Regulations and ensures completion of all duties vital to business operations.
Responsibilities
- Provides instructions to patients as directed by the providers.
- Ensures compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA Regulations.
- Supports patient flow in a unit or department, including:
- Patient registration
- Patient scheduling
- Patient billing
- Pre-certification (collecting insurance information; receiving co-pays or bill payments)
- Medical records retrieval, release, or collection
- Data entry
- Responsible for routine problem resolution and assistance with patient flow coordination.
- Initiates follow-up with appropriate staff as needed.
- Demonstrates respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors, and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma/GED
- Graduate of accredited medical assisting school
- Successfully completed registration/certification exam
- 3 years related experience in a medical office setting, including:
- Customer service/receptionist/registration
- Scheduling
- Filing
- Telephone etiquette
- Patient billing
- Computer service

- Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
- Maintain patient confidentiality
