Medical Assistant GAP

This role is ideal for pre-medical and pre-PA students taking a gap year, serving as Medical Assistants in a busy Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and teaching site. Key Responsibilities Include Obtaining and documenting vital signs, chief complaints, and focused histories.Preparing patients for exams and assisting with minor procedures.Performing point-of-care testing, specimen collection, and EKGs.Documenting encounters in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).Supporting patient flow and maintaining exam rooms and equipment. Exposure To Various Specialties Such As Primary Care, OB/GYN, Dermatology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, and Sports Medicine. Ideal Candidates Are Taking a gap year before medical or PA school.Seeking substantial patient interaction and clinical skill development.Passionate about community health and health equity. Requirements Include Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress).Strong interest in medicine or PA training.Excellent communication skills and dedication to patient care.Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment. Preferred Qualifications Prior clinical or patient-facing experience (e.g., EMT, scribe, CNA, MA, volunteer).MA certification or willingness to obtain it.Bilingual skills.
