About the role
The Medical Assistant - Front/Back Swing, under the supervision of the Clinical Lead and Practice Leader, assists in delivering healthcare and patient care management. This role supports providers within scope of practice to ensure quality patient care, including gathering patient information, assessing requests, obtaining vitals, assisting with procedures, and reprocessing instruments.
Responsibilities
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, document reason for visit, symptoms, frequency, and severity.
- Provide courteous and compassionate care; document all required information in the electronic medical record (Allscripts experience preferred), including Meaningful Use, Pay for Performance, and ACO-related data.
- Administer injections, immunizations, and other patient care services as ordered by the provider.
- Assist during medical procedures.
- Manage communication and correspondence, including lab results, prescription management, and referrals using electronic medical records and task lists.
- Recognize urgent medical needs and triage care appropriately.
- Provide patients with accurate information and address questions or concerns.
- Maintain patient records and confidentiality.
- Complete referrals accurately.
- Disinfect exam rooms and patient areas between visits and at the end of the day.
- Assist with clinic upkeep, including daily cleaning and supply inventory.
- Answer telephones, schedule appointments, and take patient messages using electronic medical records.
- Greet and check in patients; address requests and inquiries.
- Resolve patient concerns and assist with insurance verifications, authorizations, and explanations.
- Return calls as necessary and perform various assigned administrative tasks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program (e.g., NHA, AMCA).
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association).
- At least one year of medical assisting experience in a physician’s office or clinical setting, or equivalent training/experience.
- Reprocessing/procedural experience is highly preferred.

Pay
$28.00 - $31.21 - $36.41 per hour, based on skills, experience, qualifications, and internal/market equity. Positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by those agreements.
Schedule
- 8-hour day shifts.
- 40 scheduled weekly hours.
