Medical Assistant - Family Practice - Pittsfield, IL

About the role

As a Medical Assistant in Family Practice at our Pittsfield, IL clinic, you will play a key role in supporting primary care providers in delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care. You will assist with rooming patients, documenting clinical information, supporting in-office procedures, and helping coordinate ongoing care needs for patients of all ages.

Primary Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and visit information.
• Aid providers with examinations, procedures, and clinical support tasks.
• Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments within scope of practice.
• Cook up referrals, lab work, imaging, prior authorizations, and follow-up care coordination.
• Communicate provider instructions, test results, and patient education materials.
• Respond to patient phone calls, messages, and clinical inquiries in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.
• Ensure exam rooms and clinical areas are clean, stocked, and prepared.
• Support patient education and chronic disease management.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support family practice operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification required (available upon hire).
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Previous clinical experience in a physician office or primary care setting preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and patient care skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinic environment.
• Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
• Commitment to patient-centered care.
