Join our team at Banner Health Clinic – Country Club, a family-centered primary care practice serving patients from infancy to senior years for over 30 years in the East Valley. We are looking for a compassionate, caring Medical Assistant to interact with all levels of patient care including women's health and minor procedures. Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
• Clinic is open from 7:00am–6:00pm; candidates must have flexibility to work a 40-hour shift during these hours
• No evenings or weekend hours

Sign-on bonus

$2,000 sign-on bonus for certified experienced MAs. Additional details will be discussed with your recruiter.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, chief complaint, and pain scores; report changes in patient condition to the clinician
• Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures including blood pressure, respiration, heart rate/pulse, temperature, phlebotomies, ear irrigation, and EKGs
• Act as chaperon as needed; use universal blood and body fluid precautions and PPE at all times
• Prioritize patient flow through the clinical process
• Coordinate and manage patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling for clinic, hospital, and ancillary treatments
• Communicate test results to patients
• Administer medications in accordance with policies and procedures as directed
• Provide clerical support including patient notifications, documentation, and maintaining complete medical records (labs, authorizations, X-rays, hospital records, previous care)
• Provide complete and accurate billing information related to patient encounters
• Maintain a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas; follow sterilization procedures, manufacturer's recommendations, and OSHA guidelines
• Perform basic equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs; order supplies and stock patient care areas
• Manage medication-related tasks including expired medications/equipment and recalls
• Develop and maintain effective communication with external and internal customers
• Complete onboarding/orientation activities including simulation training as directed

Minimum qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
• Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations
• Active Medical Assistant Certification required (must meet Meaningful Use requirements)
• BLS certification required
• Active certification from one of the following: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with proof of current AMT membership; Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with proof of current AAMA membership; Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) with proof of current NHA membership (test administered after 7/1/2017 only); or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) with proof of current NCCT membership
• Strong computer skills, including ability to work with medical software
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion
• Employees working in Behavioral Health clinical settings serving children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it; Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with office medical procedures and treatments
• Knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred

Uncertified Medical Assistant pathway

Uncertified Medical Assistants who have completed an accredited MA program and have an MA diploma will be considered. Once employed, they have 12 months to become nationally certified. Banner will provide study materials and pay for the cost of certification. A passing score results in a pay increase.
