About the role
The MetroHealth System is seeking a Medical Assistant to support its outpatient clinics in the Broadway location. The ideal candidate will work in a variety of clinics and interact with a diverse patient population under the guidance of RNs, LPNs, NPs, and MDs.
Responsibilities
- Schedule patients and obtain pre-authorizations
- Register patients and gather/analyze payor data
- Perform basic medical screenings, vital signs, specimen collection, bladder scans, EKGs, and more
- Administer medications and vaccinations
- Provide wound care, splinting, and bandaging assistance
- Auxiliary support for sterile and non-sterile procedures
- Work with various medical professionals in an outpatient setting
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program or military educational program with an honorable discharge
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or obtain within 90 days of hire
- Knowledge of basic medical procedures and terminology
- Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and organizational skills
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-provider environment
- Physical requirements: sit, stand, stoop, bend, walk, lift up to 300 pounds with assistance
Qualifications
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program and work experience in a similar capacity
- Active certification as a CCMA, CMA, or RMA
- Experience in medical billing, patient registration, and scheduling
- Education related to medical billing, patient registration, and scheduling
Skills
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Ability to work in a stressful environment
- Organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of medical procedures and terminology
