About the role

The MetroHealth System is dedicated to providing high-quality patient-centered care across Northeast Ohio, focusing on enhancing healthcare access and reducing healthcare disparities.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule patients, obtain pre-authorizations, register patients, and gather/analyze payor data.
  • Perform basic medical screenings, vital signs, specimen collection, bladder scans, EKGs, and more.
  • Administer medications and vaccinations, assist with wound care, splinting, and bandaging.
  • Work closely with RNs, LPNs, NPs, MDs, and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or military educational program with an honorable discharge.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of basic medical procedures and terminology.
  • Critical thinking, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Pass a Medical Assistant pre-employment screening test with a score of 80% or better and a skills test with a 75% or better score.
  • Reliable transportation to travel between different sites within the Ambulatory Care Enterprise.
  • Ability to work in various clinic settings based on operational needs.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or high school equivalency exam completion.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or comparable military educational program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Knowledge of basic medical procedures and terminology.
  • Experience in medical billing, patient registration, and scheduling.
  • Active certification as a CCMA, CMA, or RMA.
  • Education related to medical billing, patient registration, and scheduling.
  • Active certification as a CHAA from NAHAM.

Skills

  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Flexibility, initiative, and a strong work ethic.
