About the role
The MetroHealth System is dedicated to providing high-quality patient-centered care across Northeast Ohio. This position works in outpatient settings, interacting with various healthcare professionals and serving diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities
- Schedule patients, obtain pre-authorizations, and register patients.
- Gather and analyze payor data, perform basic medical screenings, and collect vital signs.
- Administer medication and vaccinations, assist with wound care, and perform sterile and non-sterile procedures.
- Collaborate with RNs, LPNs, NPs, MDs, and other healthcare providers.
- Manage medical records and perform point-of-care testing.
- Assist with procedures such as external fixator removal, hemorrhoid banding, cast removal, and more.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program or military educational program with an honorable discharge.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Knowledge of basic medical procedures and terminology.
- Critical thinking, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Flexibility, initiative, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work in assigned areas and clinics based on operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6 months of clerical experience and relevant patient care experience.
- Education related to medical billing, patient registration, and scheduling.
- Active certifications as a CCMA, CMA, or RMA.
- Experience with medical billing software like Epic.
- Experience with point-of-care testing and wound care.
- Experience with various procedures and tests, including pulmonary function tests.
- Experience with ENT, Ortho, and Surgery clinic-specific tasks.
