Medical Assistant - Comprehensive Addiction Psychiatry Services (CAPS)

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients
• Obtaining vital signs and health histories
• Administering medications and injections as appropriate
• Cooking care
• Coordinating care
• Aiding in procedures
• Documenting in the electronic medical record
• Helping patients feel welcomed, respected, and supported

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed
• Completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting
• 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis)
• Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification required (exempt for MA IIs with 10 years MA experience and employed by MaineHealth as a MA in the most recent 5 years)
• Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date
• A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire
• Six months of experience as a Medical Assistant or one year as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant
