Medical Assistant / CNA - Orthopedics and Sports Medicine

Responsibilities

• Absorbs vital signs and patient teaching as directed by a physician.
• Assists nursing staff in admitting patients in the pre-operative area.
• Informs nursing staff of any patient concerns.
• Aids in the post-operative execution of physician orders.
• Aids in the treatment of patients such as: handling of instruments, tube changes, dressing changes, clip removal, removing sutures, etc.
• Aids in surgery and/or procedures as requested.
• Schedules required tests.
• Talks with patients regarding scheduled tests and test results as indicated from charts after review by physician.
• Answers minor medical problem questions for patients.
• Makes telephone calls to patients regarding physician orders and/or prescription medications ordered by the physician.
• Stocks appropriate medical and drug supplies.
• Aids in routine cleaning of patient rooms, waiting areas, and maintains accurate cleaning logs.
• Accurately documents all care provided to the patient and in the patient's medical record.

Requirements

• A valid MA certification is preferred.
• 1 year of experience required, general surgery experience helpful but not required.
• Epic experience desired.
• Candidate will be a dedicated and compassionate individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced, versatile environment with the willingness to learn.
