Role And Responsibilities
- Applies evidence-based guidelines from major regulatory and specialty groups.
- Performs pre-visit preparation for all primary care patients scheduled to be seen.
- Collaborates with the primary care nurse and provider during “e-huddles” using the Planned Care Dashboard to ensure complete and thorough primary care visits.
- Prepares patients for virtual telehealth sessions using Zoom technology, including setting up virtual exam rooms, admitting patients, and pre-visit preparation.
- Schedules and supports administrative tasks such as collecting paperwork, requesting records, and scheduling follow-up visits for clinical teams.
- Facilitates appropriate telehealth patient flow by preparing patients for visits and supporting clinical teams.
- Accurately documents chief complaints and results from evidence-based screening tests.
- Independently and accurately performs and documents patient vital signs and CLIA-waived tests, EKG, hearing, and vision tests.
- Prioritizes work responsibilities to decrease waiting times and collaborate with providers and staff to improve patient flow.
- Supports the health care team by assisting other team members as needed and appropriately scheduling tests and referrals for specialty care.
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe working environment by overseeing the maintenance of supplies and documenting in medical logs.
- Stocks exam rooms and cleans rooms at the end of each shift while adhering to infection control standards and safety policies.
- Maintains CPR certification annually.
- Exhibits excellent customer service skills and maintains confidentiality of patient information.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course from an accredited/recognized school.
- AAMA, NHA/AMT board certification or achieved within 90 days of hire.
- EKG use, appointment scheduling, word processing, and computer skills.
- Sound organizational skills and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Team-focused and demonstrates leadership qualities.
- CHC requires current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and AED (CPR/FPR/AED) certification or equivalent.
Preferred Skills
- Bilingual.
- Expert knowledge of the electronic health record.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- CPR Certified.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Requires manual dexterity for clinical tasks.
- Moderate physical activity including standing, walking, and lifting.
- Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and/or biohazardous material.
