About the role
A Medical Assistant Certified performs duties requested by healthcare providers as outlined in RCW 18.360, assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a Physician or Mid-Level Provider.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients and measure vital signs (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height), recording information on patient charts.
- Hand instruments and materials to the doctor as directed.
- Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Inventory and order medical supplies and materials.
- Operate electrocardiograph (EKG) and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests or schedule patients for tests with medical facilities.
- Prepare patients for examinations.
- Administer injections or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests.
- Collect previous lab reports, X-rays, chart notes, and old records.
- Maintain up-to-date patient files and key data for patient records.
- Perform venous and capillary invasive procedures for blood withdrawal.
- Administer intradermal (including skin tests), subcutaneous, and intramuscular injections for diagnostic agents as designated in RCW 18.360.05.
Requirements
- Six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be eligible for Health Care Assistant Certification in the State of Washington.
- Must obtain Medical Assistant Certification.
- Must obtain BLS (Basic Life Support) certification within six months of employment.
Pay
Salary range: $24.56–$39.25 per hour.
Schedule
Per Diem, with shifts from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Schedule varies based on employee availability and employer needs.
