Optum NY is seeking a Medical Assistant, Cardiology to join our team in Murray Hill, Manhattan, NY. As a member of the Optum Care Delivery team, you'll be an integral part of our vision to make healthcare better for everyone. You'll have the clinical resources, data, and support of a global organization behind you to help patients live healthier lives. This role provides care to patients and significant others via direct and/or telephone contact, coordinates with other members of the care team, and assists physicians or other providers with clinical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates clinical competence in the direct care of patients and assisting MDs with procedures.
- Performs clinical duties within scope of practice, complying with accepted department standards, policies, and protocols.
- Demonstrates a proactive approach to patient care, addressing individual and family needs at the time of service.
- Directs and/or escorts patients to exam rooms in a timely manner.
- Assists physician, mid-level healthcare professional, and/or nurse during exams and office diagnostic procedures/treatments.
- Performs authorized procedures competently (e.g., vital signs, vision screening, selected laboratory tests) as directed.
- Seeks validation/guidance from physicians, mid-level healthcare professionals, and/or nurses when necessary.
- Prepares e-prescriptions for processing to pharmacies when instructed by the physician per policy.
- Inspects, cleans, prepares, and processes instruments/equipment according to manufacturers' guidelines.
- Processes specimens for transport to the laboratory, ensuring proper labeling and appropriate orders in EPIC.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of relevant entry-level work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with 1+ years of recent experience as a medical assistant.
- Current CPR / BLS certification.

Pay
The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 - $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment, depending on factors such as local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
