Position Overview

The Medical Office Assistant serves as the customer service liaison to each practice, greeting patients courteously and respectfully with exceptional communication skills. Their primary role involves providing seamless experiences for patients while adhering to UHS policies for registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and billing.

About the Role

The Medical Office Assistant works in either a clerical or clinical capacity. In the clerical role, they handle administrative tasks such as registration, scheduling, and insurance verification. In the clinical role, they assist healthcare providers with patient care tasks under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients courteously and respectfully
  • Handle registration, scheduling, and insurance verification
  • Assist with patient care tasks under the direction of healthcare providers
  • Follow UHS policies and procedures

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program or relevant experience
  • Previous experience in a walk-in, primary care, or specialty care setting preferred
  • Certified medical administrative assistant (CMAA) certification preferred
  • Strong clerical background with excellent computer skills

Qualifications

  • Documentation of current CPR certification required within 1 week of start of employment
